Meta Ego of the Lost Elf
2012 | Gypsum and Ink | 20 x 30 x 30 cm
This fragile piece is an exploration of the soul of Chloe Lander, my ex-wife and mother of my two beautiful children. The piece was created at a time in our life when our relationship was becoming complex and our egos were fragmenting.
While creating this work, I became fascinated with finding the minimum amount of information required for the human brain to make sense of what it consumes. The great physicists were able to derive laws and equations with what appeared like fragments of data at the time. The metaphor for me is how the ego and the self is constructed from fragments of memories and experiences.
